Satureja hortensis
Summer Savoury is sweeter, more delicate and less bitter than Winter Savoury and is a must in any German bean dish, especially bean soups; this is where its German name derives from. In Bulgaria, it is mixed with paprika and salt to replace salt and pepper on the table and is called Sharena Sol (colourful salt). Use in sausages, sarmale, or as a alternative to sage.
